About Us

We recognise that quality care is underpinned by quality early childhood educators. This is why we have high expectations and take careful consideration when seeking and training the right educators. We aim to create a team of like-minded educators who are loving, kind, knowledgeable and passionately dedicated to their work. Our team of educators comprise of university trained Early Childhood Teachers, Diploma trained educators, Certificate III trained educators, and individuals undertaking a traineeship within our service under the guidance of our Team Leaders as mentors.

Our educators are required to hold or obtain approved first aid, anaphylaxis and asthma training and benefit from ongoing in-house training and external professional development as well as being supported to further their education and career goals. Our play-based programs are interest led and follow the nationally approved Early Years Learning Framework (EYLF), a key component of the Australian Government’s National Quality Framework for early childhood education and care. We pride ourselves on delivering a curriculum that holistically nurtures and develops each child as an individual as well as a member of a larger group.

Our programs foster all areas of development including physical, emotional, social, creative, intellectual, social and communication skills aiming to enhance the overall the wellbeing of each child. Under the guidance of our Educational Leader our educators design learning programs responsive to children’s knowledge, ideas, interests, strengths and abilities. Fundamental to the EYLF, educators strive to form healthy and secure relationships with each child allowing children to enjoy childhood as a time for Belonging, Being and Becoming. A well-designed environment can support and enhance all areas of children’s development and learning. At Maitland Preschool and Early Learning Centre our building spans across two levels with a design that aims to be inviting, safe, supportive and enticing to explore. We desire to create a warm family-feel so that your child feels comfortable in our vibrant and responsive environment. We have 5 indoor learning spaces and two wonderful playgrounds which are perfect for discovery and fuelling your child’s imagination and curiosity.

Our environments allow each child the space to learn important fundamental skills all whilst exploring and having fun. Our outdoor spaces allow children to engage with nature supporting them to become environmentally responsible and to respect the environment. With the use of natural elements such as sand, plants, shells, stones, fabrics, wood, dirt and bark, as well as exposure to art prints and other materials, children to learn to appreciate and relish in natural beauty. We recognise our environment as a child’s third teacher and place emphasis on superior daily set-ups and ensuring all learning spaces are designed to be safe, age appropriate and educational.

One thing you may notice upon entering our service is that our management team is extremely enthusiastic about discovering engaging teaching resources. You may notice that some of the equipment in our centre is much like what you have seen at other services, however we sincerely hope that you will also appreciate the large quantity of unique resources as well as the research, effort and thought that has gone into our set-ups and play-spaces. We believe this is just one of the things that really sets us apart from the rest!

We source our innovative resources and equipment from well-respected educational and teaching retailers both in Australia and abroad. We also source a blend of compliant local, national and international equipment to ensure that our programs are well balanced and culturally inclusive. Our equipment is also a mixture of new, second hand, upcycled and natural materials. This enables us to meet the needs of our curriculum as well as working towards meeting our Sustainability Policy. Our resources include age appropriate technology to enhance our hands-on, interactive play experiences.

Our menus are developed seasonally using fresh local produce sourced and cooked on-site by our trained and experienced early childhood cook. We provide hot and cold meals and snacks consisting of a Munch and Move Nutritionist approved balanced menu of breakfast, morning tea, lunch, afternoon tea and a late afternoon tea. Our service caters for children with allergies and special diagnosed dietary requirements. At meal times, children are encouraged to be social whilst our educators encourage positive eating habits.

Our educators aim to create a respectful and relaxing atmosphere in which children can explore new and different textures, tastes and sensations repetitively enabling children to establish healthy relationships with food and eating. Our menus are displayed throughout the centre and we welcome family input into these as we do all areas of our service delivery.
